Progress Medal 2021 is awarded to
Prof. Ahmed Hadidi, MD

 

 

Ahmed Taher Hadidi is Professor and Chairman of Department of Paediatric Surgery at the Sana Offenbach and Emma Hospitals in Germany. A Paediatric Surgeon of very high eminence, a paediatric urologist of distinguished repute and an ardent researcher, he completed his residency and post-graduate research in Cairo University, Egypt in 1988. He has worked in the Great Ormond St. Hospital, London, Canniesburn Plastic Hospital, Glasgow and the Monash Medical Center, Melbourne, Australia. Besides Paediatric Surgery and Urology, he has trained himself in microsurgery, flaps, laparoscopy, ultrasound, hospital management and quality improvement. He has been felicitated with the prestigious Pulvertaft Prize, the Hassan Hamdy Prize and British Association of Paediatric Surgeons Prize. Prof. Hadidi has devised and patented an external device for fecal incontinence.

 


Prof. Hadidi has a very special interest in the surgery of hypospadias. He has authored more than 30 papers and has edited the textbook on Hypospadias Surgery, An Illustrated Guide. Besides, he has described the Double Y Glanuloplasty for glanular hypospadias, Slit-like Adjusted Mathieu for distal hypospadias, Lateral based Onlay for proximal hypospadias and Bilateral based flap for perineal hypospadias. He also has a particular interest in surgery for Hirschsprung’s Disease, Imperforate Anus, Esophageal surgery, Neonatal Surgery, Congenital Hand Deformities and Pediatric Plastic Surgery.

Prof. Hadidi is a member of several national and international organizations such as the British Association of Paediatric Surgeons, European Pediatric Surgeons’ Association, Pan-African Pediatric Surgical Association and Hypospadias International Society.
